Ezekiel 24:10; Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
As we look at our lives, we can say that sometimes we should spice the food and burn the bones. Our lives need spice, the spice of God. The Bible is very clear that we should be in the Word continually…this is the spice of God. John 15:4-5; Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches; he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. We need to be salt and light to those around us, we need to wound them (metaphorically speaking) in a way that their conscience will be convicted over how they behave. Matt 5:13; Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Let us live our life the way we should, according to the Bible, and let the Holy Spirit convict hearts of sin, righteousness, and the judgment to come. Let our life spice up other souls so that they want to find out why we are different than the normal Joe Blow out there.
We should also burn the bones in our lives. We have areas in our lives that need to be changed to be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those are the bones we should be burning. Is there sin that keeps you from the Lord? Confess it and forsake it. It isn’t easy but it’s well worth it. Psalm 119:9; Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy Word. This doesn’t mean that only a young man can cleanse his way…this includes young women, older men, older women, boys, girls, or anyone who is a true believer. So let’s spice the food and burn the bones as we seek to become more like our Savior.
